Dynamic Duo Strike Again

Another entertaining Friendly

Another entertaining friendly saw us welcome North Devon Premier League North Molton FC. After Sidmouth pulled out midweek due to shortage of players, we are thankful that North Molton stepped forward to fill the fixture to continue our good pre season start.
With a slight change in personnel to the line up, we soon settled into the game as with previous matches. Some quality interchanges and movement on and off the ball, which led to some robust challenges from our visitors straight from the whistle, saw us take control of the game from an early stage, but that's not to say our visitors didn't have their moments on the pitch aswell.
But it wasn't long for the home crowd to wait until home boy Kieran Rapo started the ball rolling with his 1st of the game on 15minutes. And after a brief spell of pressure young Ashton Hewitt drove forward with the ball beating opposition players before unleashing a strike which nestled firmly in the net to make it 2-0 after30 minutes.then just before half time, the other half of the deadly duo Callum Old stepped in for his 1st of the game to make it 3-0. Half Time.
After the break we continued at the same tempo, and within minutes Callum Old was at it again adding his 2nd of the game on 47 minutes, and increasing the scoreline to 4-0.
Surely out of our visitors comeback abilities reach now, and playing with ever more growing confidence and time with the ball, strike partner Kieran Rapo once again found the back of the net on 52 minutes with his 2nd of the game to make it 5-0.
With a brief 10 minute lull in goal scoring, Jordan Bastin then reignited the crowd on 62 minutes by turning home his goal for the evening making it 6-0.
The most impressing part of the game for us was the never stop working ethic that the players are showing, and even though scores may show a gulf between teams, we kept playing the right way without any showboating because of the scoreline.
On 66 minutes it was Jesse Howe who this time found the back of the net for us to make it 7-0, and still looking very dangerous throughout the team, with a hunger for more.
And on 81 minutes Kieran Rapo rounded of his fine evening with a hat trick to take the score to 8-0, and that was how it finished.
Another impressive performance from all the team, and hopefully growing in confidence as a squad as we play more games, and not forgetting a big thank you to North Molton FC, who even though the scoreline suggests otherwise, never stopped working and still asked questions of us defensively during the game. Best of luck to you for your season ahead.
Next up for us, another big test as we welcome Newton Abbot Spurs to Horsdon Park, in what should be a quality game with Peninsula East Visitors. 7.30 kick off on Monday 7th August.
Hope to see all our supporters there, and hopefully we can continue to build on a good pre season start.??
