1st Friendly against Honiton Town

1 week ago By Steven Rice

Friendly

Our first friendly saw us take on a hard working and organised Honiton side that showed their credentials for the coming season in the Peninsula East Division this season.
Elmore had a group of 20 players for the new management team to shuffle around and organise into teams for the game!
With a mixture in both halves of old and possibly new players, the game understanbly moved from some good football to some slightly disorganised play as players tried to get to grips with each other. Elmore did come off at half time leading 1-0 thanks to a Dave O'Connor goal.
The 2nd half saw a similar display as the first with another change of squad taking to the pitch. Honiton equalised in the 2nd half, and shortly after Elmore took the lead again with a Jamie Mudge goal. With the game lurching from end to end, it wasn't long before Honiton equalised again, and with not long to go a conceded penalty gave Honiton the chance to go ahead for the first time in the game, which was well placed into the top corner to make it 2-3.
That was how the game ended, slightly disappointing start to pre season, but a good start for fitness, and a look at what the different players can offer for the upcoming season
Up next for the squad is Axminster at home on friday 21st. Come along and show the lads some support if you're looking for a Friday night fix of football!!
